मंत्री प्रताप सरनाईक यांनी महाराष्ट्रात रिक्षा, टॅक्सी, ओला आणि उबर चालकांसाठी मराठी भाषेच्या ज्ञानाबाबत महत्त्वाची माहिती दिली. मराठीचे ज्ञान नसलेल्या चालकांना एक महिन्याची नोटीस देण्यात येईल. त्यानंतरही मराठी शिकले नाही तर तीन महिन्यांसाठी परवाना निलंबित केला जाईल आणि पुढे परवाना कायमचा रद्द करण्याची कारवाई होऊ शकते. परमिट नूतनीकरणाच्या वेळी परमिट रद्द करण्याचीही तरतूद असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.
राज्यातील नऊ लाखांहून अधिक रिक्षा-टॅक्सी चालकांपैकी मोठ्या संख्येने अमराठी चालक असल्याचे सरनाईक यांनी सांगितले. कोकण मराठी साहित्य परिषद आणि मुंबई मराठी साहित्य संघाने प्रशिक्षणाची जबाबदारी स्वीकारली असून, १०५ दिवसांच्या अभियानातील ४० ते ५० दिवसांत १ लाख ६५ हजार ६०० अमराठी चालकांनी मराठी प्रशिक्षण घेतल्याची माहिती त्यांनी दिली.
१९ ऑगस्टला मंत्रालयात आरटीओ अधिकाऱ्यांची बैठक होणार असून, दर महिन्याला अभियानाचा आढावा घेतला जाणार असल्याचेही त्यांनी सांगितले. प्रवाशांनी तक्रार करण्याऐवजी रिक्षा आणि टॅक्सी चालकांशी मराठीत संवाद साधावा, असे आवाहनही प्रताप सरनाईक यांनी केले.
